Campfire Apple Crumble

I’ve gotten my parents started on dehydrating using my old Nesco. They have been doing apples for lunch treats, so I promised to post this apple recipe for them. It was originally found in The Dehydrator Bible, and it’s as wonderful at home as it is over a campfire. This makes 2 smaller servings.

campfire apple crumble

1/2 cup dehydrated apples
1 TBSP brown sugar
1/2 tsp lemon zest (optional)
1/4 tsp cinnamon
1/2 cup oatmeal
3/4 cup water

Combine first 4 ingredients. Store in separate baggie from oatmeal if packing for a camping trip. Mix water and apple mixture in sauce pan and let stand fir 15 minutes. Simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally, for 10 minutes. Serve topped with oatmeal.
