A bit of sewing

I got a chance to visit a new local urban homesteading friend recently for a sewing day with a few other ladies. She helped me get started on my first skirt made from a pattern (Simplicity 3827 Pattern D).

I did all the work on my treadle, and even tried a new foot…this neat rolled hemmer.

I’m really happy with the finished product. It turned out just the right length (I like them down to my ankles) and the lightly stretchy fashion fabric paired with an elastic waist meant there was some wiggle room for a beginner. If I got it anywhere close, I knew it was going to fit 😀

You did a fantastic job and I adore your Singer! Everything seems better when you make or sew or grow it yourself!
