I’ve been taking pictures of the baby angora bunnies each day, because I’ve been so excited about my first litter. It’s been so much fun watching them grow up to this point. Today, the first baby opened it’s eyes…which is the point at which I wanted to post a timeline of their first weeks.
Day 1 – Doesn’t he look like a baby hippo?! This guy was born in the morning and 6 more followed in the evening.
Day 2 – Earning morning bun check. Babies are already felted instead of pink.
Day 3 – Definitely have fur now.
Day 4 – Baby schnoz.
Day 5 – Getting bigger. A very sweet and trusting mama is in the background.
Day 6 – They are little chunkers now. You can see all their little faces turned towards me as the start paying more attention to their environment.
Day 7 – The babies are a literal handful now, and suddenly have long tails and ears.
Day 8 – Very squirmy.
Day 9 – Baby feets.
Day 10 – The runt was lost today, but the other 6 rounded out into pudgy lil hamster buns.
Day 11 – McPudgersons
Mama with her Nest 🙂
Day 12 – No little eyes in sight yet but the are growing by leaps and bounds.
Day 13 – …and then there were 5. One of the kits didn’t make it, and when I reached in to remove him bunnies exploded out of the nest in every direction. Today, they learned to dart…even without being able to see yet! They were all put right back to keep them cozy as fall gets serious about cooling down.
Day 14 – The first baby has his eyes open. They are upright instead of squirmy little worms now. But too cold and windy too take them out for cute little peeper pics today.
